Change Order

Over the summer, the Mercier tower keeps rising, and so do the change orders: extra work, extra steel, extra money that should not exist. Eddie Keane knows what each one really is. A small lie with a signature on it.

Then a young worker falls from the scaffold on the nineteenth floor, and the lie gets a body.

The inspector writes "accident." But architect Lena Varga saw the clamp and the wrench marks, and she must decide whether she can still live with the silence she accepted once before. Rosa Calabro offers Eddie a way out. Frank Calabro names the price. The job cannot stop, the police may be close, and someone on the crew knows more than he says.
